A multi-phased, planned reconstruction of an extensive area at the Southwest side of Mission Hill, along Heath Street and surrounding minor streets, Back-of-the-Hill has been in constant process since1998, and has produced 80 units of Energy Star compliant, affordable family housing, in thirty buildings, for both rental and homeownership markets.  

The result of conscientious attention to neighborhood goals and concerns, culled through an intensive process of meetings and feedback, Back-of-the-Hill represents Neighborhood Rebuilding at its best, completing the existing residential patterns with contextural, scale appropriate buildings on scattered sites.  Catherine Gallagher House, a signature building for the entire project, distinguishes its prominent Heath Street site.

Back-of-the-Hill Phases I & II are complete, Phase III is in construction, and later phases are in planning.
