A Charlestown landmark and former Boston public elementary school, this historic masonry building was redesigned to accommodate thirty-eight one- and two-bedroom units for an elderly population. The project is 100% handicapped accessible, and includes a small primary care health clinic, a common dining area, office areas, and a dramatic three story central atrium meeting space. Extensive use of skylights permitted the development of an additional level of housing within the roof truss space.
Elton + Hampton Architects Principal P. Nicholas Elton had primary responsibility for design and construction administration on this project while employed at another firm.
