Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation

Erie and
Ellington Streets

Dorchester, MA

Completed in 2000, this development of fifty affordable rental units has been recognized with an Energy Value Housing Award from the National Association of Home Builders, an Excellence in Environmental Design Award from the Boston Society of Architects, and a Northeast Green Building Award.  Organized in scattered site two- and three-family buildings, the project revitalized a derelict urban brownfield area in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, replacing blight with a residential development that is sensitive to the Victorian character of surrounding housing stock, and cost 25% less to build and 50% less to operate than comparable conventional housing.
