A multi-phased, planned reconstruction of an extensive area at the Southwest side of Mission Hill, along Heath Street and surrounding minor streets, Back-of-the-Hill has been in constant process since 1998, and has produced 80 units of Energy Star compliant, affordable family housing, in thirty buildings, for both rental and homeownership markets. Phases I & II are complete, Phase III is in construction, and later phases are in planning.

The result of conscientious attention to neighborhood goals and concerns, culled through an intensive process of meetings and feedback, Back-of-the-Hill represents Neighborhood Rebuilding at its best, completing the existing residential patterns with contextural, scale appropriate buildings on scattered sites.

Catherine Gallagher House provides 20 units of affordable rental family housing in a dramatic, asymmetrically arched building, with offset ground floors responding to its sloped site. An Energy Star compliant building, constructed with sustainable products and techniques, Catherine Gallagher House brings distinction to its prominent location.
